Public Transit

Because of all the recent real estate growth and development in this amazing downtown community, Coal Harbour has quickly become one of the most popular in all of Vancouver. With so many great condos for sale, there has never been a better time to call this bustling community home.

Another fantastic selling feature of Coal Harbour’s real estate options is the accessibility and abundance of public transit options. Here is a brief overview of some of these options and how you can enjoy a car free lifestyle!

Cycling

Translink and the city of Vancouver have worked tirelessly to develop a network of bike lanes that link Coal Harbour with other parts of Vancouver. These bike lanes provide an alternative method of transportation that provide a safe, green way of commuting in and around Coal Harbour. Remember, all Translink’s public transit options are bicycle friendly so you can easily combine cycling with other public transit methods!

Translink

All of the public transportation available in Vancouver is serviced and provided by Translink. This includes public buses, the SeaBus and SkyTrain which link Vancouver to other major Lower Mainland cities.

In addition to these major public transportation options, Translink is also dedicated to developing and maintaining alternative methods of transportation such as cycling. The buses and SkyTrains as well as other public transportation options available in and around Vancouver are wheelchair and bicycle friendly.
Translink also provides the HandyDART service for passengers with physical or cognitive disabilities. The HandyDART is a door to door pick-up service for those who are unable to use conventional public transportation. You must register and be approved to be eligible for the HandyDART service.

Assistance animals are welcome on all Translink’s public transit options, as are pets so long as they are in a cage and do not block any of the major entrance and exit paths.

Some of the highlights of the Translink public transit system include:

  • Translink’s service is the largest in Canada
  • Provides the lowest per kilometer rate in Canada
  • Has over 200 bus routes
  • SkyTrain is one of the most cost-effective light rail systems in North America

Public Buses

The layout and design of Coal Harbour make it incredibly accessible by public transit. All the major stops of interest in the neighbourhood are serviced and are accessible by public bus. This includes Stanley Park as well as Canada Place.

There is no public transit service around Stanley Park but the Seawall provides both cycling, walking and rollerblading options and links Stanley Park to other areas in Vancouver. Translink also has a wide range of conveniently placed bus stops all through Coal Harbour to make public transit easy and accessible to its residents.

SkyTrain

The light rail SkyTrain network that services the Lower Mainland and travels to the airport and other major centres is only a short walk away from Coal Harbour. Some of the major stops along the SkyTrain route that are convenient include:

  • YVR – airport
  • Langara College
  • Waterfront (Canada Place as well as access to the SeaBus)

  • Access to most other surrounding cities and suburbs
